Happy Endings
Published in Paperback by Anacus Pr Inc (December, 1999)
Average review score:

Happy Endings is a happy bookThis is one of the best books about the relationship between a mother and daughter. It is also an excellent travel book about Italy.
For parents, bicyclists, and travelers, it's tops!Margaret Logan thinks you can't tell kids anything, but you can show them plenty. When her 17-year old daughter showed signs of making the same kinds of mistakes she had - she's divorced and things aren't smooth with her love life or her job - she took her on a bicycle trip from Paris to Rome. There are fights and dangers along the way,but the title is apt. And the prose is terrific. This new edition has two useful maps and a fascinating afterward that tells "what happened next."

Life in general and funnyHey,Wait a Minute appeals to me since Dee and I could be contemporaries. I am where she is and even though our fears and phobias are different ones, hers make sense.
I laughed and enjoyed myself and realized that after each one, she had said a true thing and done it in a kind and funny way. Do read it. You will like it if you are a wife or a senior citizen or a woman.. Now doesnt that fit a lot of people.

Hey! You're going to love this book!Though not old enough to "qualify" for many of the experiences in this book, (I'm ONLY 40), I loved it none-the-less. After all, when was the last time you heard of someone truly describing their reaction to seeing a rhino's "winkie"? I thank Ms. Logan for letting me know what I'm in for and that I can face it with grace and humor. It will make great Christmas presents for my friends and family.
My 78 year old mother-in-law also loved the book and has requested I order copies for two of HER friends, proving this is an inter-generational delight. Her favorite things were those that showed she wasn't the only one to...................
Get the book and set aside a rainy afternoon, or leave it in the bathroom and enjoy it a page at a time. You'll laugh out loud before you reach the end and will look forward to the next book in what I hope will be a long, long series.

A Fun Book to ReadThis is a fun book to read. Though entertaining, it is also educational and will serve you well when you are ready to invest in stocks. In fact, it is packed with important information that is easily assimilated. This book is so interesting that my spouse read it and became interested in the investment process. This has saved me hours in trying to explain how the market works
Strongly recommed this book for family reading. Especially if you have children in high school, college or just entering the work force. A terrific book to take on vacation and read while in the air, at the beach or on ship board.

Lock, STOCK, and Barrel"How Stocks Work," a singularly efficient reference into the world of stocks, was written by celebrated financial author, Dr. David L. Scott. The book is systematically arranged from the concise preview-summaries at the beginning of each chapter, to the discussion of the topics in bold-faced question and answer style, to the indexed listing of subjects. Stock values, stock investments, special tax implications, among other stockholding matters, are treated completely and judiciously. The section examining mutual funds significantly heightend my awaresness of certain investments. The book concludes with specific guidance pertaining to Internet, radio-TV, library, and brokerage firm services available to investment families. "How Stocks Work" should be a desktop manual for both the experienced and the inexperienced stockholder. Unquestionably, Dr. Scott has again succeeded in conveying sense and sensibility toward our investments...lock, STOCK, and barrel.

The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Rock

Average review score:

ABBA to ZAPPAGot this book in 1988, wow its still on my shelf, ufortunately I cut some of the rock stars pictures out and pinned them on my wall (also in the late 80's). Well, I do not even feel worthy of this book, its for the original hard rockers that can remember all these groups. I will sell it, I cut out Bob Marley, and most of the reggae guys pictures only.
Great Unbiased Biographical Tidbits on all the Rock StarsYou'll notice Aladdin Sane on the cover. A full bio on Bowie inside, with photographs of his albums. Nice if you want tidbits on all the major rock stars.

K-12 Web Pages: Planning & Publishing Excellent School Web Sites (Professional Growth Series)
Published in Paperback by Linworth Pub Co (November, 2001)
Average review score:

How to make an excellent web pageThis book, produced by Linworth Publishing, is the result of an online collaboration between Cynthia Beuselinck, who worked in libraries for ten years, then as an internet support specialist for the Calgary Board, and now owns an educational internet training company; and Deb Logan, a school librarian from Ohio. It is the culmination of many years of work by the authors on school Web sites, and their solution to the problem of how difficult it is to find information on how to make good educational web sites. They have gathered here the wisdom of experts from books, magazines and other Web sites, and their own tried and true experience. It answers questions about content, design, safety, ethics and responsibility. What it doesn't do is focus on how to build Web pages step by step or how to use software packages. Instead it helps educators define their needs and plan for high quality, low risk and meaningful educational Web sites. It covers such essentials as creation of a vision statement, categories of content, publishing guidelines and policies, copyright issues, technical considerations, design, and maintenance. The appendices contain reproducible planning and check sheets, lists of helpful resources, including exemplary web sites, a glossary, index, bibliography and recommended resources list. The text is clearly written and well organized, with "Fast fact" sidebars and screen prints, as well as easy to use lists and catchy quotes. This is an extremely useful tool - one that all schools should have on their professional reading shelf.
Best K-12 Web site Information I've seen!!Debra Kay Logan has done a marvelous job with this. Everything teachers, administrators, and parents need to know about Web site development in schools. Safety and security and privacy of student information is covered rationally as are the details of construction, content, and design in a school setting. This is a definite must have for any one developing school Web sites. Deb Logan's own Web site is a great model.

Logan and the Duck Patrol
Published in Library Binding by Buffalo Creek Pr (January, 1996)
Average review score:

Kindergarten Kids love Logan and the Duck PatrolOur young students at the Early Childhood Education Center
are thoroughly enjoying Logan and the Duck Patrol.
This delightful story about a little boy who does a BIG job
is a story time favorite.
Children choose this book because of the adorable
illustrations and interesting story line.
Teachers and parents often select Logan when they
want to teach a lesson on compassion, or problem solving,
or the power of working together.
As the principal of an early childhood center where 800+
three, four, and five year olds go to school,
I can tell you we have done a rigorous "field test"
on Logan and the Duck Patrol. I can highly recommend it
as an outstanding book for children.

A Must-Read-Often illustrated children's book! Beautiful!Logan and the Duck Patrol is a beautifully illustrated and
wonderfully told tale about a boy who learns about helping
others in need. Logan and Gramma discover that Mr. Johnson's
illness has kept him from feeding the ducks, so they round
up their friends and come to the rescue. With outstanding
watercolor technique, Anton Uhl brings uncommon beauty
to this inspiring story. Micki Nellis has somehow captured
that special relationship between grandmother and young boy
and has woven it into the thread tied onto the happy ending.

Logan's Storm
Published in Paperback by Random House Trade Paperbacks (08 July, 2003)
Average review score:

Dwelling place for the SoulAn unexpected surprise and joy, well scripted and paced, this book has got to be made into a movie. A Cajun adventure of the heart, with unsophisticated but never crude characters, and a story about not giving up on love. These characters are real people, middle-aged (like me), who love, sweat, fear, laugh, and connive. Logan is a 40 something widower, and single father, who has turned to the swamp for solace and escape, only to find deliverance of a kind he never expected, nor will you. He is a swamp fox, both agile and deliberate, depending on whether he is dealing with insane, depraved, or violent situations, as the need arises. I loved this book.
Now, is Ken Wells related to Rebecca Wells, the Ya-Ya Queen?
The Hurricane Blew Me Away!Wells is a real discovery. I had not read the other books in his Catahoula Trilogy but I saw a review of Logan's Storm in Publisher's Weekly and decided to give it a try. Wells writes with humor and sympathy for his colorful cast of Cajun characters and with an obvious love for the backwaters of his native Louisiana but what makes this a great book is one of the most harrowing and riveting hurricane passages I've ever read. This book is a real page turner chock with unforgettable characters and scenes. The ending is fabulous and very moving.
